I think it's super cool that Toby made his characters unique and diverse enough for all kinds of people to relate to them. I think a lot of fans find comfort and connection to any character that's like them. I can see how it can be jarring when people apply real-life logic and stereotypes to characters in a fictional universe where societal standards differ, but I don't think anyone means harm when they make headcanons for fun. But that's just my opinion and I'm no authority on who likes who. If he thinks someone's sexy, then he'll go for them.
